Melody Music Academy – Governing Document (Constitution)
1. Name of the Organisation
The name of the organisation shall be Melody Music Academy.
2. Aims and Objectives
The aims of the organisation are:
To provide high-quality music education for all ages and abilities.
To preserve and promote Iranian, Afghan, Kurdish and wider world musical heritage.
To support refugees, asylum seekers, migrants and people on low or no income through access to music and cultural activities.
To build community cohesion and intercultural understanding through music.
3. Powers
In furtherance of the aims, the organisation may:
Raise funds and apply for grants.
Organise classes, workshops, performances and events.
Employ staff and recruit volunteers.
Work in partnership with other organisations.
Open and maintain a bank account in the name of the organisation.
4. Membership
Membership is open to all who support the aims of the organisation.
The committee has the right to refuse or terminate membership for good reason.
5. Management Committee
The organisation shall be managed by a Committee of at least three officers:
Chair
Secretary
Treasurer
The Committee is responsible for policy, finance, and overall direction of the organisation.
Committee members shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting (AGM).
6. Finance
All funds shall be used only for the aims of the organisation.
The Treasurer shall keep proper accounts and present them annually at the AGM.
The bank account shall be in the name of the organisation, with at least two signatories.
7. Meetings
An Annual General Meeting (AGM) shall be held once a year.
The Committee may call Special General Meetings (SGM) when necessary.
Decisions shall be made by majority vote; in case of a tie, the Chair has the casting vote.
8. Amendments
This Constitution may be amended at an AGM or SGM with at least two-thirds majority of members present.
9. Dissolution
If the organisation closes, any remaining funds shall be given to another non-profit organisation with similar aims.
